My Story

Jessica Innis is a Jersey native. Growing up as a first-gen Jamaican-American, Jessica has always had a passion for creativity. By age 12, Jessica grew a love for software like Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Expressions. She took design classes in high school to learn Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Flash. In her spare time, Jessica would read books on computer programming, scriptwriting, and art. Jessica Innis graduated from Smith College in 2017 with a B.A. in Chemistry and a minor in Economics. During her undergrad years at Smith, Jessica had numerous leadership roles such as House President, Coordinator of House Events, and Head of Campus Pool. As a forerunner for innovation and entrepreneurship on campus, Jessica created the club, Startup Smith, and was chosen to be a Stanford UIF Design Fellow for the 2016-2017 academic year. Jessica was accepted as a member of the Collegiate Accelerator Program at Venture Valley Mentors and was accepted as a Draper University cohort member in 2015. After college, Jessica worked at the Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship at the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. Jessica has attended Entrepreneurship, Social Innovation, Women in Business, and Black is Tech conferences. Jessica returned to New Jersey for family reasons and helped manage and operate, Central Point Kitchen & Bath Showroom. With her mother, Jessica teaches others how to buy and flip homes as an online course. She also does one-on-one coaching for life and strategic planning, which more details can be found in her book, Designing You Life: Intentional Goal Planning Calendar

As a plus-sized Black woman, Jessica has a strong interest in cultural activism. Jessica created her business, Redflowers, in 2017 as a digital space for Black women. As a self-taught photographer, Jessica created photo archives and even took a Creative Nonfiction course to embark her journalism journey. In 2018, she took Digital Media Production in the Black Community and created the first issue of Bloom Magazine, a self-care, wellness, and lifestyle magazine for Black women and Black identities. She later presented at NCORE in 2018 on "Designing Spaces for Inclusion". Jessica Innis also presented design thinking at NACE in 2018 and attended the Japan Black Studies Association Conference in Kyoto in 2019. Using design thinking methodology, Jessica has created social justice and reformation programming with her project, RethinxIt. As a social identity, Jessica has spoke against social injustices against minority groups and is a proclaimed body positive activist.

Over the years, she has expanded her skill sets in photography, design, film, project management, and content management. In recent years, Jessica has become known as the musical artist, Shauna Moon. On social media, Jessica has become known for storytimes, fashion styling, and editorial photoshoots. In 2021, she co-wrote Rough Writers Anthology: Don't Tell and won the Bragging Writes 2021 Flash Fiction contest for her fiction writing. In her free time, Jessica enjoys eating delicious food, doing nerd activities, and traveling the world.
